⚠️ Warning to Stourbridge Residents: Rogue Trader Darren Evans Still Operating Freely

I never thought I’d be writing something like this. But after being conned out of thousands of pounds—and then dismissed by the very authorities meant to protect us—staying silent is no longer an option.

Last year, my family was approached by a man named Darren Evans

Darren Evans

offering to remove scrap rubbish from our driveway. He was polite, professional, and seemed trustworthy. We paid him in cash for the job, which led to further discussions about replacing our driveway and carrying out some landscaping in the garden.

We agreed on prices. Again, we paid in good faith.

That faith was badly misplaced.

Darren Evans started the job—but almost immediately, things began to unravel. He became unreliable, began demanding more money, citing rising material costs or having “underquoted.” Then came the excuses, delays, and ultimately—complete abandonment.

One day, while we were out, he returned unannounced, let himself into our back garden, and took everything: his tools, materials we had paid for, and even some of our own belongings—a wheelbarrow, an extension lead, spades.

The work was never finished. We were left with a destroyed garden and £6,000 gone.

⚖️ When Fraud Becomes “Just a Civil Matter”

We reported him to the police. We expected an investigation. We expected action.

Instead, we were told, “It’s a civil matter.”

We tried to explain—this wasn’t poor workmanship or a business dispute. This was fraud. Darren Evans took our money with no intention of completing the work. That is a criminal offence under the Fraud Act 2006Fraud by False Representation.

But the police didn’t want to know. The moment we mentioned paying cash, it felt like they washed their hands of us.

We didn’t just feel conned—we felt punished for trusting someone and doing the right thing.

📢 He’s Done This Before—and He’ll Do It Again

Since speaking out, others have come forward with their stories:

  • One local man lost £2,000
  • A woman recently lost £12,000, shared in a public Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1C2xrRmuo5/

These are just the ones we know about. There could be dozens more—people too embarrassed or disheartened to speak out.

This is not an isolated case. It’s a pattern of deliberate deception.

I’m proud to call Stourbridge my home and love my town and country. However, I’m concerned about the direction of our nation under the main political parties. That’s why I support the Reform UK Party and its leader, Nigel Farage, who I believe can restore Great Britain’s greatness.I aim to serve Stourbridge as a councillor, tackling anti-social crime, motorbike theft, and supporting local businesses. My ultimate goal is to represent Stourbridge as an MP, driving meaningful change.
